Court Trip

Day 1

We landed in Addis Ababa around 2:00pm, dropped our bags off at our guest house and headed to the transition home to meet our boy. I was a big ball of nerves. I had thought and prayed for this moment for so long.  Would he be scared of us? Would he cry when I held him? Will he laugh and play with us? Will he somehow know that he can trust us?  And, it was perfect! Everything about our time together was perfect! He is perfect!

He was not at all afraid of us and even got excited when we came back each day. He laughed and  played with us. He let me rock him and feed him.  He completely melted our hearts.  I believe with with all my heart that the Lord had been preparing his heart for us in the same way he was preparing us for him. We love him like we have always known him.

Court Date!!!

We (FINALLY) got our court date for June 3!!!!! This means that we can travel to Ethiopia and spend time with AJ. On June 3 we will go to court in Ethiopia and get custody of AJ.  We will have to leave him there when we come home while the US Embassy clears him to travel home.  Once that happens, we will go back and bring AJ HOME!!!!

We are so excited and thankful to be at this part in the process and are prayerful that we will have our boy home by the end of July!

iPad Mini Raffle

We are thrilled to finally be gearing up to travel to Ethiopia, two years and 8 months after submitting our initial paperwork.  We anticipate traveling sometime in late May or early June.  We will get to spend an entire week bonding with AJ! One of our single biggest adoption expenses is the airfare to and from Ethiopia.  Unfortunately, we expect to pay top dollar for our tickets because we will not receive the "all clear" to travel until a few weeks prior to our court date. In addition, because AJ won't get to come home with us right away, we will have to make a second trip to bring him home.  So, to help raise the funds we need, we are going to raffle off a 16BG iPad mini!

Raffle tickets are $10 a piece. If you buy 5 tickets for $50 we'll give you 6 tickets. If you buy 10 tickets for $100 we'll give you 12 tickets. If you buy a ticket(s) and share it on facebook, we will give you 1 ticket.

If you are interested in purchasing tickets you can either hand-deliver the money or mail a check/cash. If you are a pay pal user, you can transfer the money to my account by using my email address. If you choose to send the money by mail or pay pal, I will  send you an email to let you know the money arrived and your tickets have been added to the jar. We will draw for a winner on May 8 at 8:00pm, just in time for Mother's Day.

I feel like I have said this A LOT over the last couple of years but, THANK YOU!!! Thank you for your support, prayers and love. This has been a long and hard process but we see the light at the end of the tunnel. We can not wait to get our boy home and introduce him to all of you that have played a part in this. We appreciate you more than you know!

Edie's 5th Birthday Party

Edie really wanted to have her birthday party at the gym where she takes gymnastics. In order to that, we had to have her party a few weeks early, which made her really happy! I still can't believe that my baby girl is almost 5!

my big ol' hen

It's safe to say that Henry was not thrilled with the idea of being a hen in his school program. I can't really blame him. Hens are not the coolest of animals. However, he toughed it out and made an excellent hen.  We are proud of you, Henry! You did a great job.

Easter

cousin love

Henry had a little accident before the egg hunt. We made a quick trip to Acute Kids, got a little codeine in him, and he came back ready to go. Taylor was very sweet to help him out. In fact, I think he had more eggs than anyone. All the cousins kept bringing him eggs :) I love those kids!

Hopefully this will be the last holiday without our littlest boy!
